HPV Infection Testing
HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a virus that can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact or sexual intercourse. Certain strains can cause cancer, such as cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, and anal cancer, while others may lead to genital warts.
How does HPV infection occur?
- Transmitted through skin-to-skin contact in the genital, oral, or anal areas
- Through sexual activity (both heterosexual and homosexual)
- Infected individuals may have no symptoms but can still transmit the virus
How many types of HPV are there?
There are over 100 types of HPV, but only some are associated with diseases in humans. These can be categorized into:
High-risk types: May lead to cancer
Low-risk types: Typically do not cause cancer but may cause warts
Why should you get tested for HPV?
- HPV infection often shows no symptoms
- Some types are linked to cancer
- Testing helps assess the initial risk
- Results can be used to support further clinical evaluation
Our testing technology
- PCR Hybridization on DNA Microarray Chip
- More than 98% accuracy
- Uses probes to directly detect HPV genetic sequences
- Capable of detecting low viral loads in the sample
- Accepts samples from Urogenital Swab and Urine

Full strain details are available in the test report.
Sample Collection Precautions
- Refrain from sexual intercourse, douching, or using vaginal suppositories 24–48 hours before sample collection
- Do not collect samples during menstruation
- Samples must be submitted within the following timeframes:
- Urogenital swab: within 5 days, store at ≤ 8°C if not sent immediately
- Urine: within 3 days, store at ≤ 8°C if not sent immediately
Swab specimens must be collected in a VTM (Viral Transport Medium) tube to preserve viral integrity and ensure the accuracy of test results.
